I am a former college advisor/counselor, turned UX/UI Product Designer. My career began as an English teacher at West High School (Denver) where I served and advocated for at-risk youth. As a result of teaching, I pursued counseling with the opportunity to learn and perform a wide variety of duties. In this capacity, I developed a true passion for helping and inspiring others in their effort to achieve both professional and personal success. Then, my situation became clear that it was the right time to move on, taking those transferable skills into my next chapter.

In recognizing the inequities regarding academic opportunities, I created a startup, CyclusBreak (LLC & 501c3) and designed apps to support historically underrepresented students with college knowledge. This informed my pivot in EdTech, broadening my ability to learn and pursue other tech-related career paths.

UX/UI Product Design appealed to me because it embodies many elements of advising including empathy, discovering the motivations and needs of users and tailoring the experience for a smooth user experience.

Next step - become part of a design project and/or team where I can impact and contribute from a place of diverse authenticity.
